The PTG success story

1962: Company foundation of Unionpack Industrielle Lohnverpackungs GmbH Frankfurt
UNIONPACK, founded by Dr. Gundermann (pharmacist) and Feist (sales representative) in Frankfurt, filled the first tubes in 1962. Shortly afterwards, a blister line was put into operation, followed by the first fillings into bags.

1974: Manufacturing licence according to AMG §13
Already in 1966 the first production line for packaging pharmaceutical products was built in Frankfurt and in 1974 Unionpack received the manufacturing permit according to §13 AMG. Within a short period of time, the order push required the foundation of a further plant with air-conditioned production rooms in large rooms.

1991: Founding of PTG Lohnverpackung GmbH by Bettina Markovic-Grimm
In 1991, the year of its foundation, the logistics service provider PTG Lohnverpackung GmbH, based in Dreieich in the German state of Hesse, already had 20 employees. The operating area at that time was 300 qm.

1994: Expansion/growth of PTG Lohnverpackung GmbH
Due to a continuous growth of the company the number of employees could be permanently increased. By the move to Langen the company area was extended. In 1994 our customers already had 3,000 qm at their disposal and we expanded again between 1995 and 1998. More than 150 permanent employees now work on an area of 7,000 qm. In 2001, ten years after the foundation of the company, our company area now amounts to a proud 25,000 qm.

2002: Foundation of PTG Consulting GmbH
In response to the steadily growing market demand for a comprehensive logistics service provider, we founded the independent PTG Consulting GmbH in 2002. The result: consulting, efficiency analyses, packaging development, packaging management – from now on everything from one source.

2004: Eco-Certification
PTG received the eco-certification according to VO (EWG) for ecologically produced food.

2006: Expansion of the PTG’s usable area
Already in 2003, the company’s own properties were extended by the property Raiffeisenstraße 16 in Langen with an existing hall. In 2006, the newly built warehouse was also occupied and shortly afterwards a further external warehouse.

2007: P&G Award
UNIONPACK received the P&G Award – an award from Procter & Gamble as the best European co-packer.

2008: Acquisition of UNIONPACK and expansion into new markets
In December 2008, PTG took over Unionpack Industrielle Lohnverpackungs GmbH and thus expanded its value chain in the strategically important area of filling for the cosmetics, medical and pharmaceutical industries. The factory in Groß-Zimmern already had the following certifications: DIN ISO 9001; DIN ISO 13483, organic certification as well as a manufacturing permit according to §13 AMG.

2009: Commissioning of the warehouse and production hall in Rödermark
With the new production and warehouse building, PTG Lohnverpackung GmbH expanded its capacity to meet the high packaging requirements of customers in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors.

2010: DIN EN ISO 13485:2007 Certificate for PTG Lohnverpackung GmbH
In addition to the manufacturer’s license according to the German Medicines Act, PTG Lohnverpackung GmbH received the DIN EN ISO 13485:2007 certificate for the packaging of medical products.

2011: Expansion continued – now also food packaging at PTG
The takeover of Rovema Verpackungsservice GmbH in Fernwald near Gießen, with its core competence in the filling and packaging of foodstuffs, expanded the breadth of PTG’s range of services and strengthened the position of the “PTG Group” as a packaging specialist.

2015: The contract fillers move to the new production hall in Rodgau
PTG Lohnabfüllung GmbH relocated at the end of December 2015. The state-of-the-art production building in the VGP Logistikpark Rodgau, which had been newly built for filling, was occupied and the previous factory in Groß-Zimmern closed. Shortly afterwards, in January 2016, PTG Verpackungsservice GmbH (formerly Rovema Verpackungsservice GmbH) moved from Fernwald near Gießen.

2016: Merger of bottlers
In 2016, PTG Verpackungsservice GmbH merged with PTG Lohnabfüllung GmbH. Both bottlers of the PTG service group now have the same name in addition to their joint headquarters in Rodgau: PTG Lohnabfüllung GmbH.

2016: Expansion of the site in Rödermark
The location in Rödermark/Ober Roden was extended by another hall and all productions of PTG Lohnverpackung GmbH were relocated from Langen to Rödermark. On a storage and production area of approx. 5,600 m² and approx. 1,200 m² of “white production” with five fully air-conditioned rooms, PTG packs products from various industries.

2019: New construction of further storage areas
At the Rödermark/Oder-Roden site, the storage area on the company premises is extended by approx. 1,000 qm by a new building. A new hall is built, primarily for space-intensive display construction.

“To be one step ahead of the competition” – we have made this customer wish our own. This goal is supported by customer-oriented product management from packaging development to project implementation.

The invaluable practical knowledge of our internally trained employees in handling all conceivable packaging materials enables us to find ideas immediately and implement them promptly.

With our extensive machinery of over 80 packaging machines, we can offer the widest range of packaging in the volume from 0.1 g to 500 g, from the zero series to the million edition.

In order to meet these specific requirements, we develop our own machine technologies and associated components ourselves.
